Например, бухгалтерский баланс фирмы или иного института [balance sheet] включает в себя, с одной стороны, активы (средства, находящиеся во владении), с другой – пассивы (сумму обязательств), а также чистую стоимость капитала (суммарные активы за вычетом пассивов) на определенный момент времени. Государственный бюджет строится в виде баланса денежных доходов и расходов государства. Применяются также материальные балансы (в частности, см. Эколого-экономические модели), балансы труда и др. См. Балансовая модель, Балансовый метод. Некоторые балансы: Баланс банка — таблица, состоящая из двух частей: слева записываются активы банка, справа — его пассивы. бухгалтерский баланс
Отчет, отражающий финансовое состояние предприятия (компании) на определенную дату. Это основная форма бухгалтерской отчетности; система показателей, сгруппированных в сводную таблицу, характеризующих в денежном выражении состав, размещение, источники и назначение средств. Состоит из двух частей: левая - актив, правая - пассив (см. также Вертикальная форма баланса); их итоги должны быть равными. В российской финансовой отчетности разделы актива располагаются в порядке возрастания ликвидности и включают: внеоборотные активы (неосязаемые активы, основные средства, незавершенное строительство, долгосрочные финансовые вложения), оборотные активы (товарно-материальные запасы, налог на добавленную стоимость, дебиторскую задолженность, краткосрочные финансовые вложения, денежные средства, прочие оборотные активы), убытки. В пассиве на первом месте идут статьи, относящиеся к собственному капиталу, далее - долгосрочные обязательства, текущие обязательства.
